Why Choose Embroidered Logos for Workwear?

Embroidery is the process of stitching your logo directly to your workwear using high-quality threads. This creates a textured look that feels like a part of the fabric. It is widely considered the standard for professional uniforms due to its incredible durability and classic appearance. Embroidery works best on front and sleeve logos in set colours and is the perfect way to add your logo to every item.

Unbeatable Durability

Embroidered logos are designed to last, even outlasting the uniform itself. Our stitching won't fade, crack, or peel, even with frequent high-temperature commercial washing.

Professional Finish

The 3D embroidery texture gives any uniform an instant uplift, making it the ideal choice for corporate, hospitality, and management workwear.

Perfect for Heavy-Duty Workwear

From fleeces and jackets to thick polo shirts and bodywarmers, embroidery excels on heavy, textured fabrics where other customisation might struggle.

Multi-Colour Precision

Our machines can handle complex logos with multiple thread colours simultaneously, ensuring your branding is vibrant and consistent across every item.

A Cost-Effective Investment

Because embroidery lasts so long and has no minimum order requirement, it provides the best long-term value for uniforms that get worn every day.

How Our Embroidery Process Works

Penguin Uniform's simple process, from sending your logo to receiving your new embroidered workwear.

  • 1

Send Us Your Logo & Choose Your Garments

Select your garments, embroidery placement and upload your logo during checkout or via a custom quote. For logos we accept Adobe Illustrator (.ai), PNG, JPEG, and most common file formats.

  • 2

    Digitising & Proof Approval

Your logo is converted into a stitch file (known as digitising). We'll adjust sizing, colours and detail where needed and send you a proof to approve before production begins.

  • 3

    Precision Embroidery

Once approved, your design is embroidered using our in-house Happy Japan multi-head machines. These machines make sure every logo matches your design.

  • 4

    Production, Finishing & Quality Check

Each garment is carefully embroidered, trimmed, and inspected to make sure stitching quality and alignment meet our standards before packing.

  • 5

    Dispatch & UK-Wide Delivery

Your completed order is packed and dispatched, ready for your team. Our turnaround time is 10–14 working days from proof approval, with reliable delivery available across the UK.

Our In-House Embroidery Machines

At Penguin Uniform, all our embroidery is produced in-house with our high-quality Happy Japan equipment. This gives us control over stitch quality, colour accuracy, and consistency across every item in your order.

We run three specialist embroidery machine types to suit different products and orders: multi-head machines for efficient production on core workwear ranges, high-capacity multi-head machines for larger runs, and dedicated hat embroidery machines designed specifically for caps and beanies. Keeping all embroidery in-house lets us retain full control in creating professional logos and helps us turn your order around more efficiently.

We create embroidery that looks professional and holds up to everyday wear, featuring your branding. If you're unsure whether embroidery or print is best for you, our team work with these machines every day and are happy to help you choose the right option for your logo and garments.

The Best Products for Embroidery

Embroidery works best on structured fabrics that give the needle a stable surface to stitch through. Fleeces, polo shirts, formal shirts and caps are among the most popular choices. The fabric on these items holds stitching firmly. Bodywarmers and 1/4 zips are also excellent options, particularly for outdoor and trade workwear.

Embroidery is not recommended for thin or highly stretchy fabrics, or for large solid-fill designs where the weight of the stitching can distort the garment. For smooth, lightweight fabrics or large back prints, our DTF Printing Service is the better option.

Not sure whether embroidery or print is right for your workwear? Embroidery is the go-to choice for premium finishes and logos that need to withstand heavy daily use. DTF printing is better for smooth fabrics, full-colour logos and large back prints. Many of our customers use both an embroidered chest logo and a large printed back. This combination works well on t-shirts and midlayers. Visit our Printing Services page to find out more.

Embroidery Setup / Digitising Fee (and When It’s Free)

Before we can embroider your logo, it needs to be "digitised." This is the technical process of converting your artwork into a specialist stitch file that tells our machines where each needle should go to create your logo. Because this requires work from our graphics team, a one-off setup fee of £15 applies to orders.

To ensure the sharpest result, we recommend sending your logo as an Adobe Illustrator (.ai) file. However, we can work with most high-resolution formats including PNG and JPEG. Once your logo is digitised and saved on our system, you won't pay a setup fee for future orders using that same design.

If you aren't sure if your logo is suitable for embroidery, get in touch with our team. We work with these files every day and can provide guidance on sizing, text and stitch density before you buy.

Embroidery FAQs

No, we have no minimum order for standalone items. Whether you need a single polo shirt for yourself or a full uniform for a new starter, we can help. However, for the best value, most of our customers choose our workwear bundles, which include free logos and free setup.

Our typical turnaround time for custom embroidery is 10–14 working days from the moment you approve your artwork proof. We aim to get your order to you as quickly as possible and will keep you updated on your order's progress throughout the process.

Yes! We have dedicated hat embroidery machines designed to handle the curve of caps, beanies, and snapbacks.

For the best results, we recommend sending your logo as a vector file, such as Adobe Illustrator (.ai). We also accept high-resolution PNG, JPEG, and PDF files.

We charge a one-off setup fee of £15. This covers the "digitising" process, where our team converts your artwork into a stitch file for our machines. Once your logo is saved in our system, you won't have to pay a setup fee on any future orders using that same logo.

The setup fee is completely free on all of our Workwear Bundles. Additionally, each item within a bundle includes one free logo placement.

To keep your embroidery looking sharp, we recommend washing garments inside out at 30–40°C. Avoid using bleach or strong chemical detergents. While embroidered logos are highly durable, we recommend air-drying where possible.

It depends on the garment and your logo. Embroidery is best for premium, long-lasting results on items like polos, fleeces, and caps. DTF Printing is ideal for lightweight fabrics (like t-shirts), full-colour designs, or large back prints. Many of our customers use both for a professional look.
