What Workwear qualifies as a business expense?
Protective Clothing (PPE): If the clothing is required for health and safety, it qualifies. This includes all PPE such as; high-visibility jackets, steel-toe-capped boots, hard hats, and protective gloves.
Branded Uniforms: To be included as a uniform, the clothing must have a permanent and prominent logo. Embroidery and print count, as you are creating a "corporate uniform" that HMRC recognises as a business-only asset.
Specialist Clothing: Clothes that are specific to a profession and wouldn't be worn in a normal life, such as a chef’s apron or a nurse’s scrubs.
