An in-house expert guide from Penguin Uniform — the UK's workwear bundle specialist.

Choosing between embroidery and print is one of the most common questions we get asked at Penguin Uniform. Both methods produce great results, but the right choice depends on your garment, your logo, and how your team works.
Because we handle both methods entirely in-house, we see the results every day. This guide gives you a straight answer based on real production experience, not guesswork.

Should I choose embroidery or print for my workwear?
Choose embroidery for a durable, professional finish on polos, jackets, and fleeces. Choose print (DTF) for large logos, complex designs with many colours, and lightweight garments like t-shirts and hi-vis.
Is embroidery more durable than printing?
Yes. Embroidery is generally the most durable option because the design is stitched directly into the fabric. However, the DTF printing method we use at Penguin Uniform is extremely durable and designed to withstand regular industrial washing without cracking or fading.
Can I mix embroidery and print on the same order?
Yes. Many customers choose an embroidered logo on the front chest for a professional look, and a large printed logo on the back for maximum visibility. We handle both methods in-house so this is straightforward to arrange.
Will I see my logo before it goes into production?
Always. We provide a digital proof for your approval before any production begins. Nothing is made until you are happy with how your logo looks.
Can you remove the background from a logo I supply?
Yes. Our in-house team can clean up your artwork, remove backgrounds, and prepare your logo for production. You do not need to supply a perfect file.
What is the best branding method for trade and construction workwear?
For trade and construction, we recommend embroidery for left-chest logos on polo shirts, sweatshirts, and jackets due to its durability in tough working conditions. For hi-vis and waterproofs, DTF printing is often the better choice.
How does free lifetime logo setup work?
Once we have set up your logo for embroidery or print, we keep your files permanently. Every future reorder uses the same files, so there are no repeat setup fees and faster turnaround every time.
Can you work from a logo that was created elsewhere?
Yes. We regularly work from logos created by other designers or agencies. As long as you have the rights to use the logo, we can prepare it for production regardless of where it was originally made.
We welcome showroom visits by appointment. Come and see and feel the difference between embroidery and print in person — it really does make the decision easier.
